In Pambula Beach there is one leash free area where dogs may be exercised off leash at all times:
LIONS PARK BEACH: The part of the beach north from the entrance track to the rocky headland is a leash free area. Outside of the leash free area dogs are permitted but must be on a lead. This zone is signposted. Dogs are also prohibited at all times when lifeguards are in attendance at:
PAMBULA BEACH (within 100m of the patrolled zone. This area varies according to sea conditions.)
Dogs are prohibited between 8am to 6pm from December 1 to April 30 each year at:
PAMBULA BEACH (near the surf lifesaving club) & PAMBULA RIVER MOUTH.
MAIN BEACH, MERIMBULA: This area varies according to sea conditions and when lifeguard signs are in place, dogs are prohibited from coming within 100 metres of the patrolled zone. At other times dogs are allowed on the beach on a leash.
SHORT POINT BEACH, MERIMBULA: This area varies according to sea conditions and when lifeguard signs are in place, dogs are prohibited from coming within 100 metres of the patrolled zone. At other times dogs are allowed on the beach on a leash.
TURA BEACH: On the beach between the end of Tura Beach Drive and an access road next to 162 Pacific Drive. The access from the end of Tura Beach Drive is the easiest access. Dog tidy bag dispensers are installed at both entrances. Don’t forget that the children’s play ground at the BBQ area is off limits to dogs at all times.
SHORT POINT (Merimbula): On the headland. Accessed from the Short Point car park and includes the grassy headland, indicated by the red poles and sign. There is a dog tidy dispenser at the edge of the car park. The children’s playground is off limits to dogs at all times and for this reason the leash free area only starts beyond the playground.
MAIN BEACH (Merimbula): The main access to this area is from a track off Ocean Drive at the eastern end of Dunns Lane. A dog tidy dispenser is provided at this location. The leash free area can also be accessed from Ford Park, along the beach (but only when the lifeguards aren’t there) and from an access track at the southern end of Ocean Drive.
These zones are signposted. |
